DOES hold the weight of the truck!!

Gave up and finally decided to figure out how to adjust parking brake cable - truck kept rolling slightly back even after pulling brake lever pretty tight. From day one, this lever has always had to be pulled so far up that the brake handle nearly touches the back of the center consel.

Asked several times when under warranty - all said it was normal for the design. I'd always had the push parking brake pedals under the dash in vehicles before this one, so I wasn't quite sure just how tight it should be.

When I had that other Rodeo for the short 3 days, I discovered just how loose the cable on this truck really must've been. Just never got the time to look til now.

Got the EGR Valve recleaned, CEL is off again, for now. Cleaned up the PCV and hose and a new air filter in the process.

You and I seem to be on the same maintenance schedule. I adjusted the parking brake on mine earlier this month. The main reason I finally got to it, though, was because the console was such a mess that I thought I should yank it out and clean it. Simple to adjust. Should be tight at 4 clicks or so, I think the haynes says.

I'm almost wondering if now it's too tight. I think 2-3 clicks before it's good - is that too tight?

I got used to it being so lose for so long, that I don't know if it's good or too much.

You know, I tried to take the consel all the way out, but the power side-mirror adjustment control is mounted on it and I couldn't figure out how to disconnect the connection. I pulled from every which angle and couldn't get it free, but I didn't want to do it so hard that I broke something either :uhoh: .

So I ended up adjusting the brake by laying on my back on the back floor, talk about major neck ache :crying:
