Been popping in regularly for the last few weeks after discovering the site and seen some really excellent and inspiring work.

My main interests are in rallying and I am in the process of building an Impreza WRC 99 in privateer colours, which has meant having to experiment with some home made decals with 'ok' results. I have added a couple of WIP shots below.

Has anyone else tried some home brewed decals recently and with what results. Also have one problem in that I need to produce some clear decals for the driver/co-driver names for the rear window in white, but can't print white anyone know how to get round this problem.

Many thanks and have a good New Year everyone.

Hi Marco, nice to see a more unussual Impreza model, very good job. Assuming you're in the UK (seeing as you done UK Impreza I guess you are) you could try rub-down lettering for the windows. Lettraset used to produce perfect lettering, but I haven't seen it for a while.

Thanks all for the comments which should help me to get more progress in tomorrow, hangover permitting!

Letraset sounds great. Thinking it through I may rub the letters onto the clear decal sheet, seal with clear and then fit. Should be more durable then.

Yes I am in the UK and this is the car I am trying to replicate.

It won a rally that I am involved with, back in 2000.

That should work. In the past I've used Lettraset straight on to the clear plastic. The benefit with that is you don't have to worry about the decal film showing up on the clear plastic. The finish isn;t that tough though so you may want to go with your solution. Anyway, keep us posted!

If your printer can do it, I have seen some window lettering in neon yellow, I guess for visibility. Usually on BRC cars.

Your 1st attempt at this? Looks great, a very striking livery, did you creat the graphics from scratch or were you able to get the origionals? Mike Oates car isnt it? Hope the rub down lettering works, if it doesnt you'll need to find a someone with an ALPS printer who doesnt mind taking a few minutes to help you out. Good luck, cant wait to see it finished.

Mike Oates & Lisa Addy it is. Winners of the 2000 Promenade Stages Rally. Almost finished and have included some temporary water slide decals on a black background for the names.

All of the decals were produced from scratch in Photoshop, using mock up plain paper prints at first to get the sizes somewhere near correct. There are 6 different jigsaw types in 2 colours and varying sizes. Once I had 6 masters it was just a case of size and colour adjustments. Then all were finally printed on white waterslide transfer paper.

Sweeeet. Had seen photos of this car a while ago and thought that it would look good. Marco I can't believe that this is your first time doing decals. Real nice.
