I have 94 Bonneville SSEi with an ongoing problem. About 6 months ago, the care would jerk causing the engine light to come on. Mechanic replaced alternator and belt stating that computer had to many codes but volts on alternator were fluctuating. Problem continued to occur. Only code was for the ignition module. Replaced IM but issue continued.
replaced crankshaft sensor but no change. Eventually computer was replaced which resolved issue. Now when care is at 40-45 MPH, check engine light comes on. Mechanic stated the code is for a solenoid in the tranny. This has been replaced. Engine still comes on. Code is still pointing to tranny solenoid and only happens when care is at 40-45 MPH. Mechanic then installed another computer thinking the other computer did not like solenoid. Light continues to come on. code is 1604 or 1640. not sure. not sure what to do next.
