1940s Spitfireskoda_norman 12-29-2005, 05:13 AM i know this is a plane and this is a car forum, but, i've spent the last month or so on this model and it is because of this model that i have stopped working on the Volvo. it's an Airfix 1:48 Submarine Spitfire mk Vb. i bought it in September with the intention of building it for my sister as her Christmas present. I started work on it at the beginning on December. I am really pleased with the pilot, he looks really good with the detail. I also, for the first time, used filler on this model and removed the joining lines running along the body where the two sides meet and the lines between the body and the wings. I am really pleased with the finish of these. Made a bit of a mess up of the painting tho. the kit comes with the option of building it to the spec. of two different squadrons, only i forgot about this. when i looked the at instructions first it said to paint the body 64 (grey primer) then when i looked again it said 94 (beige). I thought i had read the colours wrong and repainted it...only to relise that i wasn't wrong. but, i wanted this squadron anyway. pics below. decals are taking ages and are very tricky. hope you like it :) http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y101/skodanorman/Models/794bc973.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y101/skodanorman/Models/59eba860.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y101/skodanorman/Models/2e1545c7.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y101/skodanorman/Models/8647a86f.jpg arknok784 12-29-2005, 10:40 AM No matter what the subject is, modeling builds your skills every time. This is certainly a cool model! I have an uncle who does aircraft, he has 160 models untouched, 3 in progress, and 14 done! At the rate he works on them and buys i'll end up with them. From what i know, some aircraft are harder than cars, and to get it to the point where it isn't toyish is very difficult. You did good, and i think everyone apreciates a good model. skoda_norman 12-29-2005, 11:55 AM Thank you. I finished it on boxing day, but the main body was complete for it's unvailing on christmas. after this, i want to finish my 1:24 Volvo next, then my 1:72 Soviet truck, then another plane, this time a 1:24 Messerschmitt, and a 1:35 Dukw. Not enough cars really, all millitary, so i think i'll get myself an easy 1:24 to mess around with too :d skoda_norman 01-01-2006, 11:18 AM put the camoflague on today... http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y101/skodanorman/Models/58db9905.jpg supra86 01-01-2006, 07:47 PM nice job. personaly I finde aircraft a lot harder than cars. far more complex paint paterns and a lot more tiny peices. looks realy good skoda_norman 01-01-2006, 07:58 PM another pic with the prop together http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y101/skodanorman/Models/8210303c.jpg it is quite difficult for me as i know my way a round a car generally, and planes are compleltely unknown things to me. still, i'm very pleased with it. and so was my sister!
