Well I want to know what you people think about the new WRX lineup Subaru put out. Like the STi, the new one is just as fast as the old STi's, it just got a new look. My friend just bought an STi, and asked the guy at the dealer if the new STi's are any faster performance wise, the guy said no, just new body style and some minor stuff. So my friend bought the 2004 model. I know Subaru hired a guy from Alpha Romeo to design the body for the new ones, but I think it looks uglier now. I mean, why couldn't a guy from Porsche do it or what is wrong with the people at Subaru designing it? Well thats just my opinion, what about yours?

Bug eye or new one, the '04/'05 style never did much for me.

Well what I thing about the new ones is they're alrite but the old ones look better and perform better than the new ones. They are faster in 0-60 and quarter mile time.

old wrx is a quad cam motor and the new ones are just single meaning the older ones are more capable of making better power

Check your info source....the new ones are 2.5 DOHC, the older ones were 2.0 DOHC...

Quad Cam??? I don't think Subaru ever made a quad cam, have they?
I really don't think many companies make QUAD cams.... quadcam makes me think Maserati....in the ancient days.

Bugeyes if you're getting a sedan, '04 style for the wagon (for some reason the bugeyes don't look as cool without the fender flares). Alfa Romeo = ugly

I actually quite like the look of the new ones.

Performance wise, imo, the reason why the new models aren't much faster is because of marketing. It's so in later years they can advertise them as being x% more power...there's no way those 2.5L motors are being pushed to the limit by subaru yet.

Well...if the engine is a flat 4, wouldn't the camshafts have to be placed on each side? So if it is a DOHC, then it would have 4 cams in total, just like some DOHC V8s...

BTW, I think the 02-03's headlight are so cute, and the 06 ones are so mean and fierce. I like both of them, but the 04-05 ones are just too bland...

YukiHime, it's a DOHC, we're not talking about V8's or anything else here, we're talking about a BOXER engine or flat-4 or whatever else you want to call it, and it's a DOHC or SOHC, no such thing as quad-cam.

Being that the engine has 4 cams it is a quad cam.

But each cylinder only has two cams, so wouldn't that still make it a DOHC?

how about settling for DOHC quad-cam. each bank has dual overhead cams and there's a total of four. i think some people are getting confused and thinking there are four cams per bank.

put simply it is a DOHC engine, each bank has two cams, overhead of the cylinders. the engine as an entirity has four cams, making it a quad-cam engine.
