Manual transmission swaps are one of the biggest PITA's you would have to deal with as far as swaps are concerned.

it isnt just put a clutch pedal in and hook it up like a throttle cable. on top of that you have to set up the shifter and shift linkage probably a new center concil...

When searching for a car i wanted a 2nd gen RX-7 (89 preferably) and i was going to do a 13BTT swap. i wanted coupe (convertable was ugly) and the only and i refuse to drive an automatic. the only car i could find that fit my specs was one in daytona that was in the process of swaping it to manual. I think the guy got it as a project car, realized what a PITA it was....and was now passing it on to someone else. after doing my research i decided to find something else.

swapping in a manuel into a 240 is not very hard at all. all you need is the 5 speed tranny from the same chassis. the shifter has no linkage since its built into the tranny, and you can even reuse the center plastic cover from the automatic tranny. bumps in the firewall for the clutch slave cylinder is there too for the automatic. so basically you need the clutch pedal assembly, the clutch master and slave cylinder, the tranny, the clutch, and flywheel, and a 5 speed drive shaft ( but some people have gotten away with using th auto matic driveshaft when they remove that rubber donut ).

the reason why you need the tranny from the same chassis is becasue if you use the S13 tranny in a S14 or visa versa, the speedo won't work becsaue the sensors are different and aren't interchangable. same with the reverse light.

Someone said that the 240 uses the T5 manual transmission, is that the same T5 as what was in the 5.0 mustangs?
