Easiest Way to Check for Bad IMGmohawk 12-28-2005, 01:31 PM My 2002 Trooper is running a little rough and makes a "sucking" sound. (Insert jokes here) LOL! I'm afraid I might have a bad IMG, so I want to do a check. I just went through a few searches on this fourm and found some good stuff. However, I still have a few questions. 1. What should I use to check for a leak...O2 Safe Carb cleaner or Starter Fluid? 2. Where exactly do you spray? 3. What will be the response if a leak is detected? Many thanks! amigo-2k 12-28-2005, 03:27 PM 3. the engine will rev up since it is sucking in and burning up the carb cleaner. rodeo02 12-30-2005, 02:26 PM From the symptoms you describe, this is almost certainly a cracked IMG. If you need to test, I'd spray the IMG area with a water bottle, COLD engine only! Aim for the black plastic looking gasket between the intake and cylinder head runners. It should rev up or stumble when you hit the split. G/luck Joel vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
