The more pixels the better,1.3 will work fine but a macro focus is more important than zoom function

I like my new Olympus C-211. I got it from Office Max for $199 USD. You can probably find them online chaper. Its a 2.1 Megapixel with 3x optical and 2x digital zoom. It prints out your pics on polariod film if you choose. Its a great camera, just big and bulky and it eats up batteries quick so I invested in a GOOD set of Ni-MH batteries. Here's an example of what I took last night

It's not 'the more pixels the better'. There are very crappy camera's out there that can do 3.3 mpixel.

I'm thinking about getting a canon powershot a40. It's a large investment but it's a good camera.

1.3 meg is adequate. My olympus 1.3 meg can get up to 1280x1024, and that's good enough for the web resolution wise. Also, optical zoom is definitely a must, and also macro as well, so that you can get close to a small object. Many digicam are still battery powered, but if it has built-in rechargeable one, that's muuuuuuuuuuch more convenient, because digicam eats a lot of energy.

The A40 should be a good camera for it's price (around $250)
but it would be like hunting squirrels with a machine gun,you
would never use all of it's"bells and whistles" taking pictures
of your models.
before you buy check out Imaging Resource (http://www.imaging-resource.com/) and decide for yourself !
