Code 43 - fuel system

hey guys.

i recently pulled codes on my 92 accord ex and just one came up, code 43. this means fuel system.

i have a feeling it's the O2 sensor (part of the fuel system if you think about it) considering my gas-milage has gone down to about 20 mpg and it is starting to get a hesitation sometimes when i step on the gas (these were the same symptoms i had when O2 sensors went bad in my 86 cougar and my 94 cutlass). but then, O2 sensors have a specific code and that doesn't come up. So now im confused as to what to do.

any help or insight would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

O2 senors do go out, but they are not part of the fuel system.

well, they have a big part in determining the air/fuel mixture, so i figured it might be called part of the fuel system.

milage is now 18 mpg :-/

Try cleaning the fuel system first before anything.
The injectors could be clogged.
Most automotive places (Pep boys, R&S Strauss, Autozone) can do that for about $50-$60.

Sconic...I've a '91 EX, F22A4, Auto Trans. I had same issues: code 43 (fuel system) but no real explanation. I did replacement of fuel cap (our cars have a pressurized system and it's essential to proper fuel delivery) @ $6.95 from AutoZone. Now the system 'whooshes' when I remove the gas cap. Also, @ 159,000 mi, I figured the O2 sensor would need replaced. I ordered mine from www.maximumautoparts.com for approx $108.80, + shipping, no sales tax. With both these items replaced, CE light went away and mileage went up by min 5 mpg. Go figure....
