smoking when car is still cold1stgencrx 12-26-2005, 03:01 AM whenever i start my car from not driving it for about 2 days or more it burns oil like crazy until it warms up a bit. im hoping its not the piston rings and preaty sure it isnt couse if it was it would be burning smoke all the time. anyone have any idea what i could do? thanks. lxndr 12-26-2005, 05:00 PM If you're burning oil on start up, it's most likely your valve stem seals. If it's just blowing steam on start up and your coolant level doesn't change, then it's probably just condensation in the exhaust system. mrlindeman 12-26-2005, 06:12 PM If you're burning oil on start up, it's most likely your valve stem seals. It should go away when driving for a while. It gets really cold and wet here in oregon so its pretty common. 1stgencrx 12-26-2005, 11:28 PM thanks for th info vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
