94 prizm differential question=jamesmetairie 12-25-2005, 12:28 PM from the get go i,ve been getting alot of steady noise while driving. question = if the dip stick for the a/t says it,s ok, can the differential level be low?? if you lose a little a/t fluid daily could it be some thing coming out of the differential? is it possible to spring a leak there? a/t dip stick says refer to repair manual about differential level. if i run the car up on a ramp for oil change can i access the differential check level plug?thanks for any help. motu 56 02-01-2006, 05:42 PM from the get go i,ve been getting alot of steady noise while driving. question = if the dip stick for the a/t says it,s ok, can the differential level be low?? if you lose a little a/t fluid daily could it be some thing coming out of the differential? is it possible to spring a leak there? a/t dip stick says refer to repair manual about differential level. if i run the car up on a ramp for oil change can i access the differential check level plug?thanks for any help. The steady noise that you are hearing could be CV joints. Please note that the differential and transmission are separate units. A trans mechanic told me that many GEO Prizms fail due to low Differential fluid. jamesmetairie 02-01-2006, 06:11 PM The steady noise that you are hearing could be CV joints. Please note that the differential and transmission are separate units. A trans mechanic told me that many GEO Prizms fail due to low Differential fluid.yes, i found out these cars lose a/t fluid from the differential area. you will see it on the driveway. but your a/t dip stick will appear correct level. you must check the level of the fluid in the differential seperately. the differential holds the fluid separate. it does not circulate through the a/t into the differential. on my a/t dip stick it tells a story. it says refer to shop manual to check differential level.anyway thanks for the help. i,m selling this puppy soon. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
