Paint gun Help

Just bought a craftsman hvpl gravity gun from sears for my father for christmas.. he has 100's of those old "pint" type ones but hes always wanted a new one.. is this a good gun for the price ($100).. will it be better than the other ones he uses?

its alright, i just bought a DevilBiss Finishline for $120. its one of the best guns ive used... its one step below the GTI (a $400+ gun) sprays clear like silk too... i wouldnt recommend anything but.

oh and its also a HVLP, gravity feed. (High Volume Low Pressure)

my neighbor grew up painting cars with his dad in his dads restoration shop, and he says that you can get a pretty good result even with a cheaper one, especially if you are good at it. i had the same dilemma when i was buying a gun to paint my truck im restoring. the hvlp thing is really confusing to me. it sez in some places to use 40 psi and in others it sez to use 10 or 15 psi. i tried using 40 to spray my laquer primer and it was very dry and required a lot of sanding lol. not good. i guess ill try lowering the pressure or thinning the paint more next time

no, 40 at the wall and 10-15 at the air cap... make sure us air hose is the right size too.. HVLP guns require a bigger hose than RP..
