Z-Max (linkite) Yes or No?panzer dragoon 12-23-2005, 04:25 AM http://www.ftc.gov/os/caselist/0023256/010201comp0023256.pdf this is a FTC (federal trade commission) lawsuit that says Z-Max is mineral oil and that it also ruins your engine. Long-term mineral oil use in engine oil causes more engine wear. Stay away from this junk and other motor oil additives. Most additives are waxes. Mobile 1 and Amsoil are true synthetics. Castrol syntec is a split molecule motor oil and not worth the money = regular oil molecule is split in size by electricity. If anything just change your motor oil every 3-5K religiously. I like synthetic oil because the engine will start quickly and warm up faster. -a especially good idea for large V8 engines in the wintertime. There is special synthetic motor oil for diesels also. I go 5k with Mobile 1 5W-30 in my Intrigue. harrymay 12-26-2005, 10:49 PM damn, i just read that and that horrible. i saw it on the shelves, but thanlfully i didnt buy it. i pity those idiots that did, if a product was really that great on mileage and the such, you would think it would be all over the place. panzer dragoon 12-27-2005, 05:58 AM I thought about buying this stuff too, but thank God I am too cheap. The part that sold me is when they show the Z-Max actually sinking into the metal and the burn tests. I bought Castol Syntec at one time also. For some engines that are looser (old) I believe Castrol is a good compromise before trying fully synthetic motor oils. Mineral oil can have some short-term positives in motor oil, like cleaning out sludge, but longterm it's a big negative. one_mil 12-27-2005, 02:08 PM If anyone is interested in an oil additive or transmission -- check out Bi-Tron I found out about it on ebay and they got some pretty incredible videos showing how good the stuff works. I ordered some for my engine and tranny after seening the videos. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
