Cleaning a turbo.kris 06-07-2002, 12:01 PM I just picked up a turbo off a Starion. While I am waiting for some other parts to get in, I wanted to clean this turbo up some. It seems to have alot of carbon buildup, dirt, etc. on it. When I pull it apart to inspect everything, is it okay to clean everything off? If it's okay to do that, is there anything I should not do to prevent any types of damage? Thanks Rgacke 06-07-2002, 03:10 PM definetly don't let any dirt get inside. My friend caped his up and used a dremel to lightly "sand" the outter housing, looks like new. As for the inside, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. If its just the housings its not a big deal, you can remove and clean 'em but store the cartridge in a zip-lock bag or something, don't get crud on/in it. After you get the turbo hooked up run the drain line to a bucket and just crank over the engine so dust/dirt will come out and you can tell if theres any obstructions in the turbo. hope this helps kris 06-07-2002, 08:06 PM Originally posted by Rgacke definetly don't let any dirt get inside. I just pulled the housing off and cleaned it up with the dremel. Now it looks good. :) jdblack1 06-25-2002, 02:44 AM http://personal.lig.bellsouth.net/lig/j/d/jdblack1/car%20pics/019_19.jpg polish and clean was just time consuming/about 3hrs kris 06-25-2002, 07:20 AM Originally posted by jdblack1 http://personal.lig.bellsouth.et/lig/j/d/jdblack1/car%20pics/019_19.jpg polish and clean was just time consuming/about 3hrs Nice, where did you get your adapter plate, or did you make it yourself? jdblack1 06-25-2002, 02:20 PM made it myself Tominos 07-01-2002, 12:34 AM what tools machines do you need to make the adapter plate yourself? also where can you get the metal for the adapter plate, i don't know since the metal is pretty thick(1/2") vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
