40 or 60 liter (10.5 or 15.8 gal) tank?

I have a 1995 talon tsi auto awd. When my tank light is on and I fill up, I only can push in 40 litres (10.5 gal) of 91. - that's it. My owners manual says 60 liters (15.8 gal), whats going on here? I also only get 186 miles (300 km) to a full tank. I just had a fuel management system cleanout by mitsu, new plugs, wires, synthetic, and not a havy foot!?? Any suggestions?

The gas guage in these cars are complete shit. It dosn't know how much gas you actually have. To really get an accurate reading at your gas mileage, fill it up completely, set the trip odometer, drive it till it's empty, and see how many gallons it takes to fill it back up. Divide the miles by the gallons and tell us what you get.

It really does have a 15.9 gallon tank...like I said, the guage is messed up.

I think the most I have ever gotten in my car is 12 gallons when I was almost completely empty. And I get about 220-280 on that.

I mean my cobra has a 15 gallon tank, and gets about 240 on that. My dsm doesn't take near as much to fill up.

I was able to put in 13.5 once, and I thought I was running on fumes. Turns out I had another 2 gallons still. :icon16:

PLEASE do not do this if you drive a turbo'd DSM.

?

I didn't mean literally drive it empty, just low enough so you get a good average number. If you only drive 7 gallons out of it, you might not get a very accurate number for your mpg.

HA!! Let me guess, you are from the dirty south, and have yet to hear that the metric system is used around the entire world but the USA. Its easier to convert 10, 100, 1000, 10000 than it is the neaderthall way. Eaither way we both drive sick cars. Cheers, Merry christmas!

Yeah i know we're fucked up!! I think we need to convert (especially cause our cars use metric) I use metric at work and it's pretty anoying switching back and forth.

Someone needs to learn how to divide lol. I just filled up my tank and got 14.989 gallons in there so I was litterally on fumes

I filled up at about 40 litres last week and got 285 km before having to fill up...... HORRIBLE. (10.6 gallons @ 177 miles = 16.7 MPG.) Just put in new NGK BPR7ES plugs like 2 weeks ago. No idea what the deal is.

Thats about the same milage that I'm getting. I need to try and figure out the problem, i think it might have something to do with the fuel filter

That's definately one plus of being N/T, no matter how hard I drive the car, I just can't consume enough fuel to get less than 20 mpg. :p

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

dont worry the tank light is screwed up....others say the same thing....it probably goes on another 20 litres in the tank, which should give us about another 120 km i think. summer is better, I hate winter and defrost/gas using!
