I have a 95 ex that was getting great milage. When I got the car it was sitting for 2 years so I relaced all the fluids, belts, gave it a tune up,ect. and relaced the fuel filter also. Now it gets 22 miles to the gallon and does not feel like it has much power. I even changed the oil and autotrans oil several times because it was sitting. No leaks I can find.

Any idea what is going on?

Thanks

Do you live somewhere where it's winter? If yes, than that's the problem.

Yes int the northeast. I know they put additives that kill it somewhat. But any other car I only lost a few miles to the gallon. Not 10 or more.

Fuel is turned to varnish when its allowed to sit. Maybe running a fuel injection cleaner could clean off any deposits left by the spoiled fuel. I know its basic but tire pressure can also kill your fuel economy by considerable amounts.this site may help http://www.fueleconomy.gov/

I always thought of the opposite, as the colder the air, the denser it is. So your fuel has more air molecules to bond to, giving you a tad more power for the same amount of gas, so you need less throttle to go as fast as you would in a hot weather, causing better fuel economy compared to hot climate.

Thanks but I have run through about 6 tanks of injector cleaner and sprayed cleaner in the intake manifold. Yesterday I even disconnected the battery hoping it would reset the computer and help. I don't know if this did anything yet.

The injectors could have tiny fractures, I've seen it before. Or you could pull them and manually clean them. As for the winter blend gas stuff, I have the "special" gas blends during the different seasons, but never really notice a difference in milage. I drive a 94 ex, and maybe 2-3 mpg on average difference.

I know a 02 sensor can make a big difference. They are kinda expensive but still they can go bad and not be bad enough to throw a code.

just empty your tank and put new gas in it. after 2 years im sure your gas has gone bad.
