Finish your cars before starting a new one. :p

lol your getting the wrong idea, theres NO WAY i would start a new car unless i gave up on the old one, and thats not happening with the m3 im around 75% so probably 4 more good working days and i should be done.
i just want to know what model i am going to model next b/c, 1. its a motavation to finish your current model quicker, 2. you can get straight into modeling without doing too much searching for a new car.

go for a 1992-1996 Prelude.

or go for a silvia s15. or an enzo. enzo will be a very fun project and when you are done, you may get hefty price for it.

nahh enzo there is wayyyy to many, if you check out turbo squid if you search "enzo" i will guarntee you there will be at least 15 other ones, as for s15 sounds good ill consider that! and as for the prelude, not my cup of tea, maybe the new rsx, ill consider that too.

I think you should model the new ferrari 430. Its hard to model that headlight and rear breaklights. Its a combination of enzo and 360. And there's only a few models in turbosquid of the 430 and ferrari cars are very in demand. I would model it but since I have 2 ferrari's already, I might skip it for now. BTW your 360 is overpriced. There's some great quality models of the 360 below $100 liike mine. Kidding. Hehe.

yea i know lol, i changed it to $50 lol, thats a more realistic price. ill check out that 430.

I searched turbosquid and found only one 430. If someone would make another high quality model I'm pretty sure it would sell a lot. Some guys there like 3dbarrel do it full time now and he has lots of high quality cars.

assad_l

but if you did it full time you wouldnt make enough to live off, if you made 1 high res model a week and you had 50 models you would probably only sell one a month, and thats what $200-$500 and thats just a month... but im thinking of doing that 430 as soon as im done with my m3.

first of all good to hear from ya n2ozebozz you havnt posted for a while, diablos are too common, r34 i think that would be hard!!! i might stick with the f430 i think that will be hard too, but theres only one other f430 on tubosquid so maybe... stingray just aint my style ;)

new cars with thier prefect molded lines . . . isn't that too easy?

wouldn't something old be more of a chalenge?

how about a 240z, i'm sure you could find a buyer for an old classic

just a thought.

it doesnt work like that dimefury the newer the car the better, and the higher quality model the better.

Live off with it? You're a kid. Live off you parents. Haha!
I meant full time modelling cars. Doing freelance or having a client ask you to model a car with exclusive rights(can't sell to turbosquid so you ask for higher price of $500 upwards per model).
With 50 models you would sell atleast 15 a month. Especially if the quality is like 3dbarrels work. Remember the models are not for individuals. They're for companies that do work in advertising, games, etc. So do the math. Averaging $70 per model multiplied 15 while he's sitting in his ass. That's just turbosquid. There are atleast 2 more sites that sell models coming from 3dbarrel. That's why they do it full time. Look up de espona, mpavlos. They have lots of quality models and they are earning a lot.

damn, i didnt think that this internet selling bussiness was that big, well while im out of school and out of work i will model, i dont mean to be rude but how many models have you sold? your work is high class man and youve got what about 15 models? o and my parents arent like that, they want to live off me lol.

Well its not really the internet that will earn you a lot. Its the connections you make thru the internet. I only have 6 cars technically. They're just variations. Nothing comparared to 3dbarrel. And his cars are 95% accurate, mine maybe 85% only. But the point is, you will get the money from your portfolio. Some one might be interested in your work and ask you for a project. And since you know lightwave and 3d stuff, it will be easier for you to learn even automotive programs like alias, rhino3d, etc. Stuff used to design and manufacture in cnc machines. Custom parts for bikes, cars, etc are usually made with software that are not that different from lightwave. Im sure there are local custom chop shops in your area where you could use what you're learning. :smokin:

damn if your models are only 85% what would that make mine like 65%??

This the one you'll be doing?
http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/269419

The evo is a good idea.
http://www.turbosquid.com/FullPreview/Index.cfm/ID/228406
Then you can do the tommi mak rallyversion after the base car and then the Fast and furious lancer. That's milking the model. :)
Happy Holidays!

12-26-2005, 05:37 PM
you should ask raytracer i barely even know what it is, all i know is that you project a pic on the model, i dont even know what its called, maybe uv mapping, uv texturing, or maybe just texture.

12-28-2005, 12:12 AM
Hey raytracer i got a question, is it worth learning 3ds? i have 3 good video car tuts, is it worth putting the time in or is it a waste of time?

raytracer2k2
12-28-2005, 01:33 AM
There's a great tut on uv mapping a soda can, fish, etc on newtek.
Studying 3dsmax is ok. Its up to you how deep you wana go into it. I can model and render in 3dsmax and that's how far I went.
This nsx you'll be making? :D
