The 2005 world champion will leave Renault to join Vodaphone/McLaren/Mercedes in 2007.

I have a feeling this means that Kimi will join Ferrari :)

And does this announcement mean Schumacher will retire at the end of the year so Kimi can take that place? Either way Alonso/Montoya or Alonso/Raikkonen will be a handy lineup. :)

What is it with McLaren and their mega early signing of drivers lately? Guess it shows drivers have a lot of confidence in the teams performance and equal status.

On a side note, I firmly believe that Kimi has as much to fear from Alonso at Mclaren as he has from Montoya.

You want me to spell it out for you? :) OK

I think Kimi is as much better than Alonso as he's better than Montoya :p

I used to think that too, but after Montoya's improvement in the last third of last season, now I'm not so sure. Of course Juan is still more likely than Kimi or Fernando to screw everything with a silly mistake.

That's actually what I meant. Sort of. When it comes to pure speed on a good day JPM is second to few if anyone, but as a complete package he isn't there. In 1999 and 2000 he was more than impressive in CART, but also made quite a few rather costly mistakes. I'm starting to think that he had a much more forgiving opposition there. That all still is somewhat on topic, right?

Since when was that an issue?

I'd personally like to see him take Montoya's spot. Kimi and Alonso would make a lot better package than Montoya and, well, anyone. I'm not a big fan of the guys attitude. Alonso is a team player and is gonna do great with McLaren. :iceslolan

Old news as it is (About 3 weeks old now?) I'm sorta glad that he went over to Macca, it opens up the path for either Kimi or (Less likely) JPM to make thier way to Ferrari for 2007 :D
