I love this car, but I cannot afford to pay Eur 100 for that transkit.

I'm so excited! Can't wait to get hold of my own R-GT transkit. The wheels in particular look exceptional. Thanks for the preview :)

IIRC, the wheels are plastic injected, not resin.

Which makes it even more yummy!

Hi,

wheels are alu-rings, black insert is styrene, not resin, nearly no cleaning necessary

did they do something to correct the the width of the wheels? (the fujimi wheeeles are a bit too much inside the body...)
anyone has good pics of the 2 scream GT version by the way? thanks

Manu80, clearly the complete stance of the Murcielago has to be revised to locate the racing wheels. Concerning me, I do not know yet how to proceed. Probably I'll remove both the front and rear trains from the kit.

Just started working on mine. The wheels are the FIRST set of multi-spoked OZ wheels in STYRENE that I've seen and they are beautiful. I'll be posting pics soon.

Got mine yesterday....yes the rims are fabulous. The rest of the kit is very labor intensive, a pitfall of a transkit which is also very complete.

I didn't see anywhere in the limted instructions where it says to widen the rear fenders but indeed they are on the real car. I will be doing that chore too.

Hi,

when widening the rear fenders, watch out how wide the body is around the rear wheels. After fixing the front fenders of the transkit you will reach the maximum wide of the car in this scale.

RallyRaider

Are the rear fenders that much wider? I thought the rear track looked pretty standard. :dunno: Anyone seen any definitive specs?

Phil, I had a look to some racing technical specifications and the Fujimi Murcielago perfectly match the overall rear width. I checked several of my reference pictures and the rear fenders seem to be standard.

I have found that rear width is quoted by most sources I've found to be either 79.8" or 80" for the stock version and the race version. Rear rim width is 13" which I believe is stock also.

I question whether any of these specs are actual specs of the race car or if operators of these various web sites are using the easiest specs to get hold of which would be the stock ones. However I did find one quotation of the front rims being increased from 8.5" stock to 10" race which seems correct.

The Krohn Barbour car looks widened at the rear to me, and I have walked around this car in person.

Hi,

unfortunately I havenīt seen the race Murcie live up to now. The transkit was made according to reference pictures, not only from the internet but also of very good photos.

Looking at different versions of the original car, on some photos I also had the impression of wider rear fenders on some cars of the ALMS, but not for the FIA GT cars. However, as I know, the technical details on both series are similar, so it is hard to imagine that the KBcar has different measures.

Robi J

From the KB website I downloaded the tech spech of their Murcie. There's no mention about the overall width, but they specify the tires dimensions:

Wheels/tires: OZ drop-forge magnesium rims
Pirelli P Zeros, 12.5x18 inches front, 13x18 inches rear

The rear tail lights are red LED lamps behind the clear cover, the transkit includes a vacuum formed clear tail light part to replicate that.

Well Phil, last year I spent entire nights surfing every possible corner of the web, looking for R-GT pictures, and honestly I do not remember where I found a specific one. Anyway, Webshots was a great and unexpected source.
The only engine shot I found of the KB Murcielago is the following.

Many thanks for the all the pics. :D I just hope I can actually get hold of one of the transkits now. My regular source is waiting for more stock.

deltableh, since you've seen the Brabham car in person, would you describe the red as fluorescent or dayglo?

deltableh
01-07-2006, 08:46 PM
RallyRaider: Um, it was kinda like the red you get in a liquid highligher set. I don't really know the difference between florecent and dayglo reds, but it was bright, more red than bright pink, but it was the brightness of bright pink. The best indicator of what it was like is in the third picture down... look at the American flag. Color correct the red to it's proper color, and then compare that to the red triangles. Sorry I can't be any more help, but I'm watching this thread closely, as that was a SEXY car to see in person.

The red is dayglo and it's well replicated on the kit supplied decals.

Not specificly for the KB one, but here's another engine pic. It's the 2003 full carbon testcar from Reiter Engineering.

If people need pics from details, post it here (don't bother PM-ing, I rarely read them). I've got a reasonably big archive of pictures on the FIAGT cars, so I might be of some help. Like this one of the DAMS cockpit:
