cold engine tapanncat 12-15-2005, 03:25 AM I just bought a 2000 6 cylinder Mustang with manual transmission, 68,000 miles. I notice a tapping noise when the engine is started that doesn't last too long. What is it and what do I need to do about it? Thanks! KimMG 12-15-2005, 03:56 AM What weight oil are you using? anncat 12-15-2005, 04:03 AM What weight oil are you using? I just purchased the car and I don't know what the previous owner used. I just took it to Jiffy Lube and I think they used 5W30, but I heard the noise before that. rruddfan21 12-15-2005, 06:34 PM I just bought a 2000 6 cylinder Mustang with manual transmission, 68,000 miles. Thanks! i wouldn't be too freaked about it, just keep an eye on it. what is probably is is your valve train. it takes a minute for oil to get circulated through the valve train, so this is what the noise may be. anncat 12-15-2005, 08:13 PM i wouldn't be too freaked about it, just keep an eye on it. what is probably is is your valve train. it takes a minute for oil to get circulated through the valve train, so this is what the noise may be.
