Hey, It's long but I hope you can assist me in getting all of my questions answered.

88 XJ Cherokee Laredo 4.0L Auto. Just got done converting cooling system from closed to open. Now has CSF 3-Row All Metal Rad. Way Better than Stock.

With the engine idling and warmed-up, if I switch on to the MAX HEAT settings and blower on Full I notice the Volt Meter will drop from almost 14V to a little less than 12V. Only way to bring it back up to almost 14V is to rev the engine or start driving it.

It does the same thing when I switch on the A/C to MAX too.

It did this with the old Alternator so I replaced it with a 170A one but the Volt Meter still seems to be doing the same thing. Battery charges ok.

1. Is this Normal that the Battery Volt Meter goes from 14V to a little less than 12V when the MAX HEAT or MAX A/C is switched on?

2. I'm not sure on which hose to install the "T" Fitting that comes with the Prestone Flush/Fill Kit. Standing directly in front of the motor and looking at the motor from the front you see two narrow heater hoses on each side of the top radiator hose on the thermostat housing. Is it the narrow heater hose on the right (my right) or left?

3. At night when I switch on my dashlights, the GREEN RIGHT TURN SIGNAL is lit dimly but not blinking. It will blink when I activate it. The left one is not lit but will come on lit and blink when I activate it and unlit when deactivated. What's causing this GREEN RIGHT TURN SIGNAL to be lit dimly and how can I make it stay off until needed and blinking like the left one?

4. My door locks (4 door) are wired into my aftermarket alarm so that when armed the doors lock. However, not all of them lock. The right and left rear pass doors stay unlocked. They are also difficult to lock manually from the inside by pressing the lever switch on each door. Do you think I have to open each door panel and lube them?

Thx, Phil:confused:

1. Get a volt meter and test it yourself and see what your voltage is when you have the blower on. If it's around 13.5 on your meter, it could be a bad voltmeter in your car.

2. not sure

3. You have a blown bulb, that's why the light stays on when you turn your lights on. Check up front on the right side at your park/turn signal lamp and your side marker lamp as well as your right rear tail lamp(s).

4. Your linkages are probably disconnected. You'll probably have to take off the door panel to reconnected the linkages.

If you lost the instructions for the flush kit, look here:

Hey,

Thx for the link I have the instructions but I'm confused in reading them. They say: "Hose #1 runs from firewall to water pump. Hose #2 runs from firewall to top of engine. This is the heater inlet hose where the Tee is installed."

Both hoses run to the top of the engine on the thermostat housing and both run to the heater control valve and not to the firewall indirectly. So which is the correct one to use. I'm lost. Anyone's done this b4 please help.

If it helps, the heater inlet is usually smaller than the outlet.

With fluids, just remember "Water always wants to get out the fastest" and you'll almost always be clear. This is because pumps don't pull fluids as well as they push.

I know, its a dumb phrase but it does stick in your head for years....
