problem with 87 528e!iponnet 12-12-2005, 09:50 PM ok I dont know a whole lot about cars but here is the situation, my bimmer ran out of gas today on the freeway and after I put gas in, it cranks and turns but does not run, did I mess up the fuel pump? could this be the filter(fingers crossed) or maybe injectors? which/how should I trouble shoot this? anyhelp appreciated, thanks russiankid 12-12-2005, 10:05 PM when you run out of gas, and the engine shuts off by itself, that means that the fuel lines are bone dry, they have no more fuel, so what you should do, is put the car in the ON position, wait a few seconds, turn back to OFF and do this a couple of times, then when its on ON pump the ga a few times, then start it, if it still doesnt start then hold down the gas while trying to start it, you didnt mess anything up iponnet 12-13-2005, 04:58 PM cant believe it it was a fuse for the comp/hazard lights, everything alright now thanks russiankid 12-14-2005, 05:01 PM if this happens again, check your fuel pump fuse Madmex 01-07-2006, 11:12 PM ok I dont know a whole lot about cars but here is the situation, my bimmer ran out of gas today on the freeway and after I put gas in, it cranks and turns but does not run, did I mess up the fuel pump? could this be the filter(fingers crossed) or maybe injectors? which/how should I trouble shoot this? anyhelp appreciated, thanks I have the same problem with my 87 528e.
