high pitch whine when driving

This is my mother's 2000 SE2 with 64,000. Engine size is 3.4L V6 with AT. She says that after she gassed up today and she pulled away that she heard a almost like a high pitch whine whenever she pressed the gas pedal. I have no idea as I am not a mechanic. This could be a myriad of problems so I am just looking for possible causes right now.

Realistically there a lot of possibilities from low p/s fliud to noises in the serpentine belt drive to the trans, someone has to listen to this.

as maxwedge said probley the power steering pumps low, they are noisy . Also it could be the serp. belt slipping, due to wet conditions and the/a low PS . Maybe squarells :lol: J/K
If you cant find the source, I'd take it to a proffesional and hav them look/diagnose it, maybe it'll be somehting simple you can fix.
