i have a 95 grand prix and need to know
if it is possible to put a different trans in
it. was told that the 4t65-e hd would work
but need to know if there is any modifacation

There is really no real advanatge to putting the 4t65 in, they are just as prone to problems as the 60e.

I agree with Max. The major problem is electrically they are incompatible. Your model Grand Prix does not have the wiring harness from the PCM, engine compartment fuse box, transmission range switch and vehicle speed sensor (VSS) to support a 4T65E. The main umbilical electrical plug is totally different as are the pin inputs and outputs. A 4T65E will bolt up mechanically but that's about it. Stick with a 4T60E. It's probably a better transmission overall.
