We're considering, but just wondering if it's going to be good for the engine or not. We have a 1990 Q45 and LPG would mean our fuel bill would be cut in half if we converted to LPG. It would be great for the engine. LPG doesn't have such a "dirty burn" as gasoline(petrol). Less carbon build up, cleaner oil compared to petrol engines. I've been wanting to run duel-fuel for awhile now. Just missing 1 component. You wouldn't happen to have an extra set of LPG vapour injectors laying around? lambchops 12-11-2005, 10:11 AM hehehe... booked an appointment with the mechanic for end of December service and fitting of LPG ! :D Only fear is that the LPG stuffs up the engine... not sure if the engine can cope with LPG. Going to cost us about $AUD2500 though... :eek7: ... hopefully should recoup the money within a year. Texasoil 02-18-2006, 12:53 PM This is definitely NOT LEGAL in the US since it is a gross modification of the emissions control system. The engine would run great on PROPANE (min 95 RON), but may NOT run good on mixed LPG--which has a typical octane number of low 90's. The Q45 engine likes 98 RON, 88 MON (93 PUMP ON) Depends on your driving--light throttle OK with 'LPG' . However, the engine control/management system will be all confused, trying to manage the correct fuel/air ratio--if you run mostly LPG, the ECM will have to add very little gasoline through the fuel injectors and that low rate will be out of the normal adjustment range and the engine MIL (check engine) light will come on.
