Guys, need help please.....

i have a balck Z3 convertible, CC2.8 Model98, auto gear...i just wanna know if any one faced the same & if it can be fixed or not....

Whenever i drive the car i hear a metal sound in the front it comes once & disappear.....when the car is just started moving i hear the sound very clearly....its like you hit 2 metal beams to gether, you hear a bang with an echo for seconds & it disappears......i've been told that its normal, all the 3 series has the same sound...is it true????

I really hate it when i hear the sound.....can i get a help here???

[ my 1998 z3 also make a strange sound when i first start the car after sitting overnight. it goes away as soon as i start driving. i have not looked into the cause yet , sorry. just wanted to let you know yours is not the only one

I don't know what it is, but my 2001 makes no such noises. At least that answers your question about whether or not ALL Z3s make that noise.

my car never made any similar noises. I had a 97 2.8l Z3. You probably need to describe the noise better. Does it happen when you start in reverse rather than going forward ? Is there any noise if you compress the suspension by gently pushing down on the front guards (open the bonnet and find a meaty bit of the chassis to push on) ?

3 series cars that I have owned all had one common noise, a sqeaky rear suspension, but that's all. Any other noise I would call unusual.
