Idle fluctuates when cold

Well as the title says its a 90 RX-7 vert with over 130k on it, when it is cold the idle will fluctuate between 1000-1500 rpms at a stoplight (stickshift car) as soon as it warms up (about 10-15 min of driving) the idle stabilizes and is fine. I am thinking IAC but am wondering if anyone else has an opinion on this. Thanks for any info

I unno, My buddies is kind of like that aswell, but it usually idles good till it warms up, then the idle will sometimes hover at like 2-3k, and drops down to like 300.

S4's idle sucks :P So many issues, but you can try a new BAV from another 7 and see if it helps. Also check all vac lines and make sure your idle is set proper and the TPS is working good.

lol, sorry not sure why i said that :P

Are you shure your cold idle is set properly?
When was the last time you adjusted the TPS?
Is the IAC valve original?
Any recent work done to the car?

I would think about 1k but the problem is that it fluctuates wildly.

just a thought... if the car has 130k on it and its the factory engine your probably gona need a new one soon. .. that may have nothing to do with your idle, but you should still be wary of many highmileage type problems that could be affecting it.

check your vaccum lines or the thermo wax

theres also an idle adjustment screw on top of the throttle body
