I should be getting my car back from being repainted tomorrow and it’s going into a car show on the weekend. How soon can you wash them after a new paint job and is it safe to use any products on them like the Meguiars “Quick Detailer” ????

Personally, I would ask the paint shop what their recommendation is. Most quick detailer sprays are a form of liquid wax but I would recommend that you look at the ingrediants to make sure there are no silicones present. Again contact your painter and look at the paint manufactorers recommendations before applying wax, glaze, or detailer spray.

how about some details on your repaint job?
who?
how much?
etc...

the balck trim on my '97 buick skylark is going, gone.

the bumpers need a touch up on two contained areas - about 1.5' length.

i was thinking of going to this place and going whole hog:

Rule of thumb for a lot of detailers and body shops around here is to wait at least 90 days for the paint to completely cure. As for washing, try not to use a pressure washer for a while either and use a gentle ph balanced car shampoo. Get yourself a quality microfiber towel from somewhere like www.yosteve.com or www.microfibertech.com. They are the gentlest to your new paint.
