I was looking at replacing my wifes thermostat on her 2001 626, but following the upper radiator hose to the engine there doesn't seem to be a thermostat housing. Am I missing something ? I didn't see any bolts to remove where the upper hose attaches to the engine. Is it more involved than what I imagined it to be ?

2.0L is located straight down from the number 1 spark plug at the bottom hose.

2.5L is underneath the air intake box at the bottom hose.


i have rarely seen a thermostat in a 2.5L go bad or wear.... might be wasting time and money. 2.0L thermostats go bad and leak more often, tho.
