97 jimmy axle seal replacement

whats involved?

1. Buy new seals
2. Take off axle
3. Swap out seals
4. Put back together
2. Take off axle
3. Swap out seals
4. Put back together

1. Buy new seals
2. Take off axle
3. Swap out seals
4. Put back together
Not so quite cut and dried...
Jack up truck
Pull diff cover and drain
Remove brake drums/calipers and mounting frames
Remove lock pin holding the pinion in place and remove pinion
remove c clips holding axels in place
Pull axel shaft and set aside
Remove old seal using a screwdriver or seal remover (remover is better)
Tap new one in carefully using hammer and like size socket
Lightly lube the new seal
Install everything in reverse
Spray out pumpkin with brake klean
Scrape pumpkin with razor blade until EVERY LAST SINGLE BIT OF OLD GASKET IS GONE
Hand tighten cover with new gasket in cross pattern
Refill pumpkin

Most diff's are the same regardless of manufacturer..

thanks,on that jimmys my fuel gauge is off big time.is that a jimmy thing.
