cleaning coolant out of engine/oil

hey just had my 94 pickup eat through the timing cover so whats the process of cleaning all the gunk out of the whole engine assembly. i have read some references to diesel gas but not sure the process. the head is off as well as the oil pan (what a bitch). thanks

Usually if you drain the oil that is good enough. If there is a little water left it will evaporate, that is one of the reasons it is bad for an engine to always run cold, the oil doesn't get hot enough to evap out the water from condesation etc.

I have read about people using ATF. Run your normal weight oil and use about 1/2 QT of ATF. Run for about 500 miles and then drain. It acts as a cleansing agent.
