I was planning on buying the Firebird until one someone told me that the Camaro would be better.

More to the point I was told the Camaro would be faster but I wanted to make sure whether or not it was true. Also which should I buy for racing?

The 1988 GTA has 190 or 215 horsepower depending on if it has the high output engine or not. If it does then its 215 horsepower. The standard LS-1 camaro has 305 horsepower stock. That should be enough said about that.

I forgot to add do you realy think its a good idea to beat "race" on an 18year old car with who knows how many miles on it. Correction the car had 225 horseower....

price range should be night and day, but best bang 4the buck is definately the camaro ls1 or lt1, you could get a much better deal on an LT1 and your stock tq would start at 350ft lbs.

The GTA will either have a 190hp 305 (LB9) OR a 245hp 350 (L98).
The 2000 camaro will have upwards of 320hp (SS version) 350 LS1.

Rated 305 :naughty:

I dont really see much a reason to take the 88 at all.

If you want a nice street car, get the Bird, they make more torque than ls1 cars at a lower rpm. Just make sure to get an L98 model (350)

Not to mention the price difference in what you can pick up an 88 model car instead of an 01.

Our works V-10 box truck does make more low end then an L98 or LT1 or LS1 what's your point?

I would agree insure and starting price to buy would be a great deal lower then a 00.

The LS1 is faster, more efficient, and can see 400+ WHEEL horsepower with just basic bolt ons and a cam swap.

The L98 GTA is IMO one of the hottest looking F bodies I've ever seen, and would be a great car to do an LT1 or LS1 swap. Definitely way slower in stock form though.
