Emission problemlatinowarrior 11-26-2005, 06:46 PM I need some help! I have a 84 Eldo Birz with 145,000 miles. I failed the emission test and I need to know what I will need to do to pass the darn test. I got a high reading in the NOS and CO. I plan to give the Eldo a tune up and replace some parts (spark plugs/wire, Disp Cap/rotor, igniter, egr valve)and maybe the Cat converter. Any and ALL help welcomed. DFBonnett 11-27-2005, 07:58 AM That should do it, although you might get away with just cleaning the EGR valve. The igniter/module usually either works or not so I would skip that until after you do the other things. maxwedge 11-27-2005, 05:06 PM Blocked/carboned egr passages on the HT4100 were very common, watch out for this. latinowarrior 12-05-2005, 07:15 PM Well, I repaced all the above mention parts and YES the EGR was totally clogged. She seems to run a little hard so I will be taking her in for a tune-up. I am still waiting for the cat so I can replace the old one. I hope once all the work is done she can pass the smog test. :)) latinowarrior 03-06-2006, 11:29 AM Well, I now have a sooty, wet black smoke coming out of the tail pipe. How can I fix the problem. I would like to have her running this summer. HELP!!!! maxwedge 03-06-2006, 03:11 PM Any check engine lite? latinowarrior 03-07-2006, 12:26 PM Check engine light is not on.
