New IntercoolerBLKCOMPG 11-26-2005, 07:45 PM I've got a 04 GP CompG w/ CIA and Catback system. I have been looking on zzperformance.com and I saw intercoolers on there. It looks like a good way to get some BIG HP gains. I want to get the SS intercooler because it's about half the price of the full intercooler and it's gonna take a lot less modification to my car to install. Does anyone have is intercooler already installed on their GP? If so what to you think? With my current mods am I going to run into problems if I install this intercooler? I will be dropping to -3.4 pulley at the same time I install the intercooler. Whatcha think? BNaylor 11-26-2005, 07:56 PM The guy you need to talk to is Jeff Johnson. He has a 11.7 sec. '04 Comp G. I believe he runs a ZZP Stage 2 IC. He resides at ClubGP. Ripn12s 11-26-2005, 09:17 PM Ive installed 2 ssic on gp's. The ss isnt going to allow you to drop as many pulley sizes as a stg1 or stg2 would. Plus the install's are pretty much the same. I would say go w/ the full intercooler if your going to mod anymore. You shouldnt have any problems running the intercooler, unless you mess up the install. Also, intercoolers dont add Horsepower. Its when you drop down in pulley sizes that you get the horsepower BNaylor 11-26-2005, 09:57 PM Jeff's da man! I'd talk to him when it comes to '04 GTPs and full ICs. Here a link to him and his email address: http://www.dragtimes.com/Pontiac-Grand-Prix-Timeslip-3441.html He has done some amazing things with his Grand Prix and has a proven track record. :bigthumb: BLKCOMPG 11-26-2005, 10:37 PM Ohhhh!!!!! I see...... (pulley size) All the intercooler actually does is let me run with higher boost levels w/o knock retard. jeffs_GTP_sleeper 12-07-2005, 05:26 AM Ohhhh!!!!! I see...... (pulley size) All the intercooler actually does is let me run with higher boost levels w/o knock retard. Right. A few things to keep in mind when adding a 2.25" IC to an 04+: 1. The alternator needs to be relocated withthe ZZP alternator brackets(Not sold with the IC) They are easy to install. 2. The Throttlebody will hit a stock hood unless you cut part of the hood or use a set of ZZP 1/4" cradle spacers(Not sold with the IC) Again these are very easy to install. 3. Like the prev gen you will need to extend the fuel lines, use fuel rails/logs, or fuel injector spacers. I would go with the ZZP Stage2 or 3. Also dont forget you will need larger injectors if you plan on dropping below a 3.2-3.3 pulley. Good luck Modding! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
