A Vtec is in the EX and if you pop the hood it will say VTEC on the valve cover... I odnt know about LX or DX though...

Is it really important that you get a v-tec ?

what models are we talking about ?

90-93 accords none are vtec
94-97 EX are vtec
98-03 LX/EX are vtec

Sorry, you're mistaken. VTEC basically switches cam profiles when it engages. Different head, solenoid, etc.

I have a 96 LX (non-vtec) and a friend who has a 96 EX (vtec) and there is a noticeable difference. If I recall correctly, the brochure on the car that year stated 115 HP for the LX and 145 for the EX.

But yeah, the safest way to check is pop the hood and look for the VTEC.

the 1994-97 Accords are as follows: DX=135hp, LX=135hp, SE=135hp, EX=145hp.

in 1998, they increased the motor displacement to 2.3 litres, F23A series. along with that came 5 more hp across the board.

Me personally I never really knew there was such a difference in the two
