Antifreeze/green or orange?TuBlaz 11-25-2005, 11:47 PM I had my tranny rebuilt on my 1996 Blazer LT 4x4. The shop flushed the radiator and when I dropped her off she had the orange dexcool antifreeze. However, I just noticed two weeks later that the radiator was replace with the green antifreeze. Will this harm my blazer? Do I need to change the antifreeze back to dexcool? Is it too late to just drain the green and refill w/orange dexcool? Thanks in advance, -TuBlaz If they didn't flush out all the Dex you have trouble. Personally I would use Dex. With proper maintenance you will have no trouble. Change it every couple of years and use distilled water. mike2004tct 11-26-2005, 09:51 AM If they didn't flush out all the Dex you have trouble. Personally I would use Dex. I highly doubt you have the original Dexcool in a '96 which could cause a problem if mixed with other types. However, I don't believe you'll have trouble. Texaco/Haveline states on their web-site that you can mix Dexcool with other types. Cailen 11-27-2005, 01:02 AM Texaco/Haveline states on their web-site that you can mix Dexcool with other types. The gummy gelatin I found in my Sunfire's radiator stated otherwise. Orange + Green = Problems. I'd suggest doing a rad flush some time soon. dmbrisket 51 11-27-2005, 02:20 AM they muffed up, 96 gets dex... wrong stuff in the dex system causees problems, the dex has a different base over the green, and the 96 and newer has different gaskets (lower intake is plastic/rubber instead of papper graphite) and doesnt like the green in there, and mixing will cause foaming vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
