96 jgc 5.2l hard start cold weatherbobv872dr 11-25-2005, 06:15 PM My daughters 96 jeep grand cherokee is giving her trouble starting in cold weather. Vehicle turns over fine and will start for me as long as I give it a little gas while it cranks. Once started it will not idle without a little gas. This all seems like improper default settings prior to computer taking over after warmup. Any thoughts would be appreciated dave92302 12-07-2005, 09:56 PM check out the throttle positioning senser. dksob81 12-07-2005, 10:12 PM IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE! Sounds like your IAC Valve is bad. I have had this problem n my 94 5.2L. Except it would start and then die immediately, but if I held the gas (for about a minute ir so) in it would remain running. bobv872dr 12-08-2005, 08:16 AM IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE! Sounds like your IAC Valve is bad. I have had this problem n my 94 5.2L. Except it would start and then die immediately, but if I held the gas (for about a minute ir so) in it would remain running. Installed new Intake Air Sensor Last night, Don't have any feedback whether it was succesful or not. Haynes Service Manual suggest Intake air sensor and Engine coolant sensor control startup. I think the Intake air sensor is also known as MAT or Intake Charge temperature sensor. Thanks for the additional ideas. Will let you know when solved vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
