The parking brake pedal on my 98 grand caravan will not catch when pressing the pedal. It makes a ratchet sound but the pedal will not lock in place...it just comes right back to the disengaged position...any suggestions on how easy the mechanism is to replace...if that is needed?

I had to replace the parking brake cable release wire that frayed and broke. You need to remove the release handle to remove the bottom dash panel. If your back is weak this isn't a job for you. You need to get into difficult positions to get it out.
