Hello.

I was recently told that my 1997 528i needed to have its engine tention belt and ac belt replaced. I was quoted $350? Does this sound like a fair price?

Thanks.

Hi is trying to rip you off just because you drive a BMW. Stay away from that machanic. Both the belt should cost you about $40-$50 at AutoZone and you can replace them yourself in few minutes just with some basic tool. I did it on my 92 525i and it took max 10 Min. Let me know if you need instruction how to do it or you can go here http://www.bimmer.info/ and can find lot of help with pic's.

Let me know if you need more instruction. You can print out the pic here http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?model=HD63&mospid=47404&btnr=11_1344&hg=11&fg=18 for your cars year and model, just in case if you forget how the belt goes around diff pulleys.

Thanks Akhil

I was able to do it myself!!! and when I was in there I noticed that my Adjusting Pulley was bad causing a sweeking sound everytime it rotated around so I replaced that too. Saved me about 200 bucks!

Thanks again.
