Hi,

the wife's Clio (2003 1.4 16V) is missing now (20000+ miles) so I am guessing it is leads or plugs. However, just phoned GSF car parts and they tell me that there are two types of leads, twin coil and something else.

I took a look under the bonnet but can't even see where to access the spark plugs never mind what type of coil it has.

Can someone provide some pointers please?

Cheers,

Hitman

Hi not familier with the 1.4 but guessing you cant see them as there is a plastic cover over the top with the word RENAULT on it. If so this pulls of with care as clips break easy, coils come as a moulded unit with the 4 leads moulded on but with yours it possably has pencil coils, this is a individual coil on each lead. Not cheap so expect between 50 - 80 depends on what you have. Any renault dealer will tell you just by giving them your reg number and if it is pencil coils change all 4 or others will start to break down

Thanks, got it sorted... about 2 and a half years ago when I posted the help message ;0) Thanks for the reply anyway.

I bought some after market coils from ebay rather than the Renault ones as they were about half price. Haven't had any problems with them since then. Also replaced a coil in a friend's Golf since then too. Very easy to do in both cars.
