My 92 Caravan was recently broken into and the lock cylinder broken off. From a first look I'm going to have to replace the lock mechanism, switch and plastic.

Not having had to work in this area before, I believe I'm going to have to remove the steering wheel and air bag. I can't find any instructions on air bag removal. Can some one give me some guidance.

My experience as a mechanic pre-dates air bags by a lot of years so any tips you can give me would be welcom.

My suggestion is to take the car to a dealer with the experience and have the system disabled. Replacing the other parts aren't hard but if the air bag activates then it will be a very expensive error. If you decide to do it yourself you will want to remove the negative battery cable and then look under the dash for the yellow air bag connectors. Disconnect them and the bag should be inactive. You can remove it at that point.
