I did it. I found a car I just had to have. it is in such pristine condition, I could take it to a car show today, and win a trophy.

1973 Mercury Montego MX station wagon. Bought it from the original owner, 82k miles(only), and there is only 2 flaws on the whole car. 1 small toothpick sized scrape on the lower front 1/4 panel, and a small ding(barely a low spot) on the driver's side rear 1/4 panel.

anyway, the car is light(mint) green with a 100% flawless dark green interior. The interior's wood panleling is perfect. it even has the optional 3rd row seat for 8-passenger carrying. VERY RARE.

The car came with every single document the dealer gives you when you buy a new car(except the window sticker-I guess the owner never figured it to be a "classic" some day-afterall, it IS a station wagon!)

anyway, he added aftermarket american racing black-center 15x7 wheels with modern BFG tires, a trick dual exhaust set up with aluminized 2 1/2" pipe, x-pipe, and dual flowmasters. he also added in a Sony Xplod am/fm/cassette receiver with 10-disk changer under the seat.

351-2v(which has better low end than the 4 bbl set up due to compression changes in 1973)...best part is, it is SMOG-exempt!

I dont know whether to modify this ride, and make it a real sleeper, or leave it in its current state, and cruise it/show it. I have been attending/judging many "classic car" car shows, and always wanted a rare piece of 60's/70's iron. The old, big wagons always intrigued me, and now I have one. if it wasnt so perfect, I wouldnt have even considered this car.

The owner traded it in at the dealership where my GF works. She loves old iron as well(we have a 1969 Roadrunner 440+6 at home) and when she heard it, she went-a-lookin. when she saw how immaculate it was, she laid 'dibs" on it(bless her heart) on my behalf. thank goodness for that, as all the car buffs that work there flocked to it...but she got their first.

here's some pics. sorry they are so poor, but I couldnt wait to put picks up on the web. I'll snap some nice shots in daylight to really show off its character.

Oh, and it hauls butt, for a 4100lb beast!
