Need to know the color of the emergency brake. Also need to find a wiring diagram for the interior of the jeep. Also what type of door lock system the jeep uses.
Thanks Nick

what remote starter system do you plan on using, Name and Model #?

Why do you need to know the color of the e-brake wire?

I have installed a few remote starter sytems and never needed to use the e-brake wire.

I am at work And cant remember the name its a boa security with keyless entry and remote start.
I need the emergency brake color code because the brake has to be on for the remote start to work. Safety I guess. Anyways the system wont work without it. The wiring guide they gave me said white. but its not white. it is for a 1994 jeep grand cherokee larado. I think it may be white with a brown stripe, and I really dont feel like pulling up the counsole to find out which one it is.

Also I wired up the locks with it, they call it a type a, but said it could be a type c. I dont know it this is standard lingo or not, but I cant get them to work either. here is what happens. Nothing from the remote. But when I put the key in the ignigtion it wont let me lock the doors. I cant remember if that is a safety feature on the jeep so that you dont lock your keys in the jeep or not. I will try it now since I unplugged everything
any help is greatly appreciated

is your JEEP MANUAL TRANNY or AUTO?

If you have an auto tranny, then I think you may have gotten the wrong system, it sounds like the remote starter system you got was for a MANUAL TRANNY.

also, what year is your jeep?

the book shows the E-Brake wire to be a GREY/BLACK wire.

Hello thackstonns, Your 94 (O||||O) Grand Cherokee has type A door locks, this means that they require a positive pulse to lock and unlock your doors, you should check this your self with a test light first look for a ORANGE/VIOLET wire @ the BLACK PLUG, in the DRIVERS KICK PANEL and test this wire when you press the lock button on your door. If the light on your meter comes on when you lock them, then you have type A. You should also do this to the unlock wire, it will be a PINK/VIOLET wire at the same plug. Most remote starters with keyless entery use a negative pulse output (type B), if that is the case with your starter then you will have to hook a relay up to both the lock and the unlock wire to reverse the polarity, good luck. :)

I figuired it out. The wire I was looking for was the break wire. Everything else was hooked up right they just said that it was a white wire I think it was actually brown. I cant remember. I found it with the multimeter and everything works. except the lights. it is a positive circut and I have a negitive out for it. I will have to buy a relay.
Thanks for everyone who helped out. I really appreciate it.
Thanks again and hoped everyone had a great Thanksgiving.
NIck
