1998 Lumina codedeane1935 11-19-2005, 11:45 AM What transmission does a 1998 Lumina LTZ with a 3.1l engine have? Is it the 4t60 or 4t65e? Also does a transmission code show up as SES light and can a OBD2 scanner pull the code? Thanks Deane  tblake 11-19-2005, 12:30 PM I think its the 4t65e, but not sure. And yes, a tranny code will kick the ses light on. BNaylor 11-19-2005, 12:52 PM The best way to tell since there were production changes on Vin "M" 3.1L is to look on the SPID label which lists the GM RPO codes for your vehicle. It's located under the trunk lid or back of spare tire cover. If you see M13 on one of the lines of data it is the 4T60E. If it says M15 it is the 4T65E. maxwedge 11-19-2005, 04:23 PM Most regular scanners will not show a trans code unless the CEL is on. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
