Ran out of Gas and now I have problemRKLamb 11-18-2005, 11:02 PM I ws about to run out of gas across from station and I pulled in just before it was too late. Every since then I have had bad idling, poor acceleration, and can feel pressure buildng up in both the pedal and engine. One minute it will smooth out then especailly if I try to accelerate it will start bogging down or refusing to accelerate. Ehat could be the problem. I tried cleaning it with cleaners it dorve fine and smooth out and now it back. I need advice fast. 1viadrft 11-19-2005, 01:44 AM Your injectors may be clogged due to build-up and running the car to 'E' probably didn't help any.... and although common belief is that those 'pour in your gas tank' cleaners work... they don't. You may have to pull out the injectors and clean them from there. If you even have injectors... what kinda car you got? It would be helpful if you listed all the cars info... RKLamb 11-19-2005, 07:27 AM 300Z tt. Just bought it 3 days ago RKLamb 11-19-2005, 09:08 AM Just had the fuel filter changed out and put in some lucas gas treatment and it made no difference. It seems to be getting worst. I cannot get any torque or acceleration and its hard to get pass 40. xXxRocker5150 11-19-2005, 10:38 AM hmm maybe the injectors themselves are giving out??? maybe it's a fuel pump problem??? DeleriousZ 11-19-2005, 02:23 PM yeah dude, you probably fried your fuel pump... i'd replace that immediately k3smostwanted 11-20-2005, 05:30 AM yeah..i would guess fuel pump. longlivetheZ 11-20-2005, 08:41 AM My mechanic once told me that, when it comes to the fuel pump, "most of the time, either it works or not". My car was acting funny and I thought it was the fuel pump. I mentioned it to him and he said that. He meant that, the vast majority of the time, if it quits, youdon't go anywhere. He's been working on imports (at the same shop, too!!!) for over 30 years...I tend to trust him when it comes to stuff like this. Unless the Z32 fuel pump is completely different than the Z31 fuel pump (which I know it's not), I'd look somewhere else... DeleriousZ 11-20-2005, 03:02 PM i've heard a lot of people say that, and i've also heard a lot of people say it's total bs.. i dunno what else it would be that would cause a low fuel pressure situation which this sounds like it is.. longlivetheZ 11-20-2005, 04:42 PM It does sound like it's slightly starved of fuel. That's what I thought the problem was with my car too, but my mechanic, a WAY FULL BLOWN VETERAN IMPORT MECHANIC, said that, "usually it'll work or not"...so I dunno... DeleriousZ 11-20-2005, 06:39 PM yeah, perhaps it's a fuel pressure regulator, if the z32 has one that is... RKLamb 11-20-2005, 08:29 PM I am going over to the dealer in the morning. I have no check engine lights and it runs and drives. But with no power, boost, or acceleration. I cant even beat my Tacoma right now. Over the phone they said that it could be in Safe Mode since I was in the process of running out. Someone else said the same thing and said that everything from ECU to pressure needs to be reset on a turbo charged engine when you run out of gas. I dont know what Im just hoping that I do not need new fuel injector. I can live with anything else related to the fuel system. longlivetheZ 11-21-2005, 05:16 PM Did you try unhooking the battery, waiting 2 min and hooking it back up? Mr.Molasses 11-25-2005, 09:43 PM ive never heard of a car going into safe mode. but then again ive never ran a car out of gas. It makes sense, if you were on boost and you ran out of gas you would go way lean and could really do some damage, so it would make like safe mode would hold the waste gate open and retard the timing to keep detonation to a minimum. that kind of sounds like what his car is doing. But what the hell does a 280zx owner know about a 300zxtt longlivetheZ 11-26-2005, 08:32 AM HA...oooooooook...... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
