What is the correct thermostat to useS Dufore 11-18-2005, 10:24 PM Now that my heater is needed, the 180 deg thermostat I had installed this summer just cant cut it. The temp hardly gets up to the 1/4 mark on the gauge and the heater is warm at best. The auto parts store said the 180 was what I should be using, I hope not. I expect this may also be sending bad info to the ECM because the engine never gets to the normal operating temp. What temp thermostat should I be using ? Thanks DieInterim 11-19-2005, 12:06 PM Now that my heater is needed, the 180 deg thermostat I had installed this summer just cant cut it. Thanks Hello, I have recently changed mine and I also dont see a typical warm up and sustain it. Are not these thermostats supposed to have an o-ring gasket that actually slips onto the thermostat? If I recall correctly, the one I installed came with a paper gasket that seals on the mounting flanges. Hmmm...perhaps water is bypassing the thermostat by flowing around it. I will pull mine and double check clearances, otherwise I will place a piece of cardboard in front of the radiator, covering about 1/3 of it.
