oh...my...god...wut a daytherealrayman 11-18-2005, 09:27 PM okay, first, my girlfriend took my car to school today and on the way back the car starts shaking, so she pulls into a gas station, to have it only turn out that THREE of my four studs on my right rear tire had snapped off.....WTF? i was like, huh? http://www.4freeimagehost.com/uploads/5e124aa8f85e.jpg So i waited for like an hour and ten minutes for the tow truck driver to show, and while hes hookin up my car, cops ask me about some black guys, and now it turns out that i'm also a witness to a driveby shooting (or at least the aftermath) because i had witnessed the shooters in the area after the shooting......the only good news is that the last stud held on for the whole ride home. It was 9pm and pitch black, cold as crap. I couldn't find my jack stand but i had to get the pressure off that last stud, so heres my overnight bandage for the night . :dunno: http://www.4freeimagehost.com/uploads/bb43f4cd4fa6.jpg Dyno247365 11-18-2005, 09:46 PM Good luck with THAT. Hope you and your girlfriend come out of this with as little trauma as possible. You win my award for wtf happened stories. I'm interested to find out what really happened to your car. assad_l 11-18-2005, 10:42 PM damn man wonder what happened... pretty unlucky but imagine if the last stud snapped..... driftking777 11-18-2005, 11:01 PM i have had this problem too...except when mine happened...all my lug nuts came off...:( but its usually due to not being under tightened. shitty about the drive by shooting thing though... Hit_N_Run-player 11-18-2005, 11:09 PM dang dude, that sucks. Good luck with that, and sorry about the random shooting? therealrayman 11-19-2005, 01:41 PM update on the studs! lookie lookie http://www.4freeimagehost.com/uploads/fdc0f5785319.jpg check em out :iceslolan nice and shiny, eh? i think when i get paid i'm just gonna do an overall brake job along with new studs/lug nuts all around. talk to you guys later. assad_l 11-19-2005, 05:20 PM not good man not good but then again it could of got alot worse! mynismo 11-19-2005, 11:31 PM i broke my tranny today at the track if that makes you feel any better :P nissanfanatic 11-19-2005, 11:45 PM Yea...from now on...use a torque wrench on them.lol People alway say how torque wrenches aren't needed on mundayne stuff, but why not play it safe? mynismo 11-20-2005, 11:29 AM lug nuts don't require much tq, i've never had a problem hand tightening them. i think its something like 30 ft-lbs. Chuki_breath 11-20-2005, 11:46 AM yea and dont use an impact gun lol......if you ever get a flat you may never get the damn wheel off.... i have learned always hand tighten....or use a torque wrench too. But i dont have one.... and open end lug nuts suck, stay away. Atleast i hate them. driftking777 11-20-2005, 12:31 PM actually as far as i know...all wheels shops tighten wheels to 80ft lbs...thats what mine are at Hit_N_Run-player 11-20-2005, 01:06 PM i just put on a big breaker bar and give em a nice snug tighten.. FatAlbert85 11-20-2005, 02:02 PM Holy cross-threaded lug nuts!!!!! Almost positive thats what happened. therealrayman 11-20-2005, 02:20 PM why hate on open ended lug nuts? i think those closed, acorn lookin lug nuts are corny lookin, plus with the opens ican make sure all for lug nuts are tightened the same. driftking777 11-20-2005, 02:32 PM i like open ended acorns...thats what i will be running once i get my volks... nissanfanatic 11-20-2005, 10:26 PM 78ft/lbs is proper torque. Biggest thing is making sure each lug gets the same amount of torque. AWDSR20 11-21-2005, 01:01 AM i broke my tranny today at the track if that makes you feel any better :P oh no... what happend? that is $$$$! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
