okay, first, my girlfriend took my car to school today and on the way back the car starts shaking, so she pulls into a gas station, to have it only turn out that THREE of my four studs on my right rear tire had snapped off.....WTF? i was like, huh?

So i waited for like an hour and ten minutes for the tow truck driver to show, and while hes hookin up my car, cops ask me about some black guys, and now it turns out that i'm also a witness to a driveby shooting (or at least the aftermath) because i had witnessed the shooters in the area after the shooting......the only good news is that the last stud held on for the whole ride home. It was 9pm and pitch black, cold as crap. I couldn't find my jack stand but i had to get the pressure off that last stud, so heres my overnight bandage for the night .

damn man wonder what happened... pretty unlucky but imagine if the last stud snapped.....

i have had this problem too...except when mine happened...all my lug nuts came off...:( but its usually due to not being under tightened. shitty about the drive by shooting thing though...

Yea...from now on...use a torque wrench on them.lol People alway say how torque wrenches aren't needed on mundayne stuff, but why not play it safe?

lug nuts don't require much tq, i've never had a problem hand tightening them. i think its something like 30 ft-lbs.

yea and dont use an impact gun lol......if you ever get a flat you may never get the damn wheel off....

i have learned always hand tighten....or use a torque wrench too. But i dont have one....

and open end lug nuts suck, stay away. Atleast i hate them.

actually as far as i know...all wheels shops tighten wheels to 80ft lbs...thats what mine are at

i just put on a big breaker bar and give em a nice snug tighten..

Holy cross-threaded lug nuts!!!!! Almost positive thats what happened.

why hate on open ended lug nuts? i think those closed, acorn lookin lug nuts are corny lookin, plus with the opens ican make sure all for lug nuts are tightened the same.

i like open ended acorns...thats what i will be running once i get my volks...

78ft/lbs is proper torque.

Biggest thing is making sure each lug gets the same amount of torque.
