I have a '96 corsica 4 cylinder. Has a habit of not starting in the temp range of 20-38 degrees farenheit. If its below 20 degrees, i usually do not have a problem starting it, although it does happen sometimes. I thought it might be a fuel line issue, but if i wait overnight, even if the temp stays the same the car will start up just fine.

starter cranks, doesnt fire up.

Occasionally i can hear a clicking noise from what seems to be behind the glovebox. It sounds like an electrical short. This only happens when key is in ignition with power on accessory right before i start cranking. This short also only happens in winter.

My first thought was water leaking into the firewall, freezing and pushing apart one of the connectors causing the clicking noise. but that would still cause a problem in the lower temp ranges, and usually the car has no problem below 20 degrees (save for the occasional stalling).

any ideas?

Unsure what the clicking noise is. Normally, the problem with these cars starting is (1) crank sensor, (2) ignition module. They can cause this a lot of time when weather is wet etc. You can get the module checked for free at most car parts places like Advance or NAPA. Remove the coil packs and module as an assembly. Remove coil pack and have tested. Test for GOOD spark before doing anything. Be sure you are getting fuel too.
