Check Engine in '97 V8KerryEva 11-17-2005, 02:36 PM I have had my '97 Cherokee in and out of the shop for the last 6 months. Teh Check Engine light is on and each time I'm told that they 'think' the problem is fixed. Now I'm told that the issue is the way the camp shaft interacts with the 8th cylinder. Initially they believed that it was solely the 8th cylinder causing the problem but after replacing it the issue was not fixed. When driving the car I can feel a slight hiccup, like either the car wants to stall or wants to go much faster. I can't feel any of this on the highway. Has anyone had the same experience or can anyone confirm that this issue is related to the campshaft? Or if anyone knows of a Chicago mechanic that is well versed in Cherokee Check Engine light issues, please advise. Thanks. Cam7 11-19-2005, 04:39 AM What is the Code and #. Should be on the repair bill. That would help to Diaganost the problem. If you cant find it drive to Auto Zone they will read the codes for Free. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
