Silverado Wheels MOD HELP!derk 11-17-2005, 12:56 PM Does anyone know how to remove the chrome on the cheep 16" rims that comes stock on a silverado?? I want my wheels to look all black insted of that cheep looking chrome covers that are on there from stock. I have seen in done before but i want to know how the chome covers are attached to the wheels? Thanks jeverett 11-17-2005, 01:25 PM More than likely you saw some painted ones that were the factory grey like the ones that cames on work truck models. Ape0r 11-17-2005, 02:51 PM I haven't ever looked into doing it, but it seems like the 'chrome' is nothing more than a plastic plate inset onto the wheel. I don't see why you couldn't just pry the covers right off, and paint the center caps to match, but of course, I've never tried. Another option would be to buy a set of factory spare wheels, they are the same style as the ones on it now, but painted black, and keep your chrome-covered rims for snow tires. BlenderWizard 11-17-2005, 04:54 PM I happen to have an extra set of the chrome wheels if you are interested vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
